History of the College
Lindi LICHAS was established in 1972 as a Training Institution owned by the Ministry of Health, Community development, Gender, Elderly and Children (MoHCDGEC). The Institution assumes its status as a non autonomous institution. Matters related to management are handled by the Principal in collaboration with Tutors and supporting staff at institutional level and major decisions are made at the Ministry level through the directorate of human resources development.
Lindi LICHAS started as Rural Medical Aids which was offering a three years program and graduates were Rural Medical Aids. In 1983 the College started offering training at Certificate and ordinary diploma based on the curriculum developed by the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and approved by NACTE for a four and six-semester program culminating into a Certificate and Diploma in Clinical Medicine respectively and the graduates from the program are recognized as Clinical Assistants (CAs) and Clinical Officers (COs).
